“There are some people who raise their upper lip so
high, or let the lower lip sag so much, that their teeth
are almost entirely visible. This is entirely contrary
to decorum, which forbids you to allow your teeth to be
uncovered, since nature gave us lips to conceal them.”
Those words are from a 1703 book entitled “The
Rules of Christian Decorum and Civility.” But to look at
the serious faces in corporate boardrooms today, you’d
think it was an excerpt from an employee handbook.
That fact is that a smile is a great way to connect with
your colleagues. At Speechworks we call a smile “A
handshake with your face.” If you’re interested in
improving how you come across to your colleagues, attend
our communication skills workshop, the Persuasive
Speaker. In this workshop, you’ll deliver five
presentations in front of a small group all with the
help of our expert coaches.
The workshop focuses on two areas:
-
How to organize a message that is simple and focuses
on audience needs.
Speechworks teaches a simple Formula for focusing on
listener needs. We believe that if you have strong
content, you will be more confident when you get up to
speak.
-
How to deliver the message in a style that connects
with the listeners.
We focus on eye contact, gestures, voice energy, and
facial energy. Our coaches will give you private
feedback on where you most need to improve.
Consider attending a workshop. We’ll
show you how to connect with colleagues and build
relationships.
At Speechworks we help our clients learn how to give
presentations that connect with the audience. If you’re
